Breaking Barriers Workshop

Join us for a hands-on Fashion Art Youth Workshop led by Copper Canoe Woman, HSTRY MKRS, and Krista Jefferson, as part of the Rooted Resiliency Gala Fashion Show!
Over four evenings, youth will design and create their own wearable art — from screen-printed clothing and jewelry to ribbon work and accessories — learning about storytelling through fashion, creativity, and community wellness.

Participants will explore how art and design can be a form of healing, self-expression, and cultural pride. All materials will be provided, and final creations will have the opportunity to be featured in the Rooted Resiliency Gala Fashion Show.

Dates: November 3 – 7
Time: 4:00 – 8:00 PM
Location: Coast Salish Institute, Building 21, 2522 Kwina Road, Bellingham, WA
Ages: Open to Native youth, ages 12 – 24
Facilitators: Vina Brown (Copper Canoe Woman), Krista Jefferson, and the HSTRY MKRS team
